Botox Liverpool Information

Is Botox treatment safe?

Botulinum Toxin has a long-standing proven safety record for use in medicine and as a muscle relaxant. It has been used successfully in both adults and children, treating various medical conditions for over 20 years. Botox has been used for cosmetic treatments for approximately 15 years and has become one of the most popular UK  aesthetic treatments.

Do Botox injections hurt?

Botox injections are performed using a very fine needle and are relatively painless, therefore anaesthetic is not required. An average Botox treatment takes approximately 30 minutes, with no down time required and you are able to drive following treatment.

How long do the effects of Botox treatment last?

The Botox cosmetic treatment can take up to 14 days until the full effects are visible. The effects of treatment last on average 3-4 months and most patients opt for a further treatment once wrinkles reappear. Patients often notice less wrinkles and lines following several treatments.

Are there any side effects following treatment?

It is important that you carefully select a highly trained medical aesthetic practitioner to perform your Botox treatment to minimise any risks. Most patients only experience mild local pain and tenderness from Botulinum injections with possible swelling at the injection site, which usually subsides within 48 hours.  Slight bruising is also possible however side effects and allergic reactions are rare.  Occasionally, the treatment may cause temporary drooping of the eyelid/eyebrow.  If this occurs, it can last for a few weeks but resolves.

How long is recommended between treatments?

We advise that a minimum interval of 3 months is left between each Botox treatment. Once the effects gradually wear off, the wrinkles will return to their original appearance, however the effects may last longer for some patients, especially if they have had treatment to the same area previously.
