What happens at a medico-legal examination?

The medical expert conducts an examination to assess the gravity of the injury sustained, any loss, damage and the potential long-term outcome. A medico-legal assessment, assists and determines the compensation deserved by the claimant and injured party. The medico-legal report provides objective medical evidence to support their injury claim.

What type of case may require a medico-legal examination?

Cases such as Personal injury and Clinical Negligence, may require a Medico-Legal report and with regards to injuries, evidence must be supplied from a suitable, qualified and experienced Expert Witness.

The opinion provided by the professional medical expert must support a claim by showing evidence of the sustained injury, to demonstrate that it was caused by the incident complained of and confirm the extent and duration of the symptoms caused. In cases where the injured party has not yet made a full recovery, the expert may also recommend fan onward referral, further medical investigations or recommend treatment.
