THE top cosmetic surgery procedure among women across the UK is breast enlargement, which saw a 13% rise last year despite global concern over PIP implants. Liposuction is the sixth most popular procedure among females, as per statistics released for cosmetic surgery in the UK.
New figures from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) reveal the number of UK cosmetic ops last year soared by 17%, to 50,122 procedures.
Men and women both opted for anti-ageing procedures such as eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) increased by 14%, with face and neck lifts up by 13%, fat transfer (where fat is injected into the face to add volume) by 15% and eyebrow lifts accounting for a 17% rise.
Cosmetic surgery for men still showed to be increasingly popular, with male surgery rising by 16%, with body contouring procedures, such as a tummy tuck (Abdominoplasty), recording the biggest increase. Liposuction procedures rose up by 28% and work to reduce “man boobs” – gynaecomastia – up by 24 per cent.
