Insurance for breast augmentation and reconstruction
Women undergoing reconstructive and cosmetic breast implant surgery are being offered an unprecedented level of financial protection for revision surgery for the first time.
Q Medical Technologies, which enjoys one of Europe’s best surgery safety records, is providing a free two year warranty with PolyTech breast implants for both patients and plastic surgeons. The warranty covers revision surgery costs of up to £1,500 per implant and protects against incidents of capsular contracture, rotation, dislocation, MRSA, postoperative infections, seroman and haematoma.
According to William Robertson, spokesperson for Q Medical Technologies, the insurance scheme is designed to give peace of mind to women concerned with the financial implications of revision surgery, which is sometimes necessary after a breast implant procedure.
“For the past 25 years, we’ve been committed to bringing innovative products to the UK. Our latest warranty offer with PolyTech breast implants continues that trend by giving our partners and their patients confidence in the product they are purchasing,” he says.
“Our insurance scheme for PolyTech breast implants is a way of reassuring breast implant patients that the cost of revision surgery, should it be required after an implant procedure, is simply nothing to worry about.”
PolyTech provides over 1,500 different implant types for breast reconstruction and cosmetic enhancements. All implants are 100 percent handmade and manufactured in Germany using silicone approved for long-term implantation.
One of the UK’s leading plastic surgeons believes that this insurance scheme can go a long-way to making breast cancer patients feel more comfortable with the risks involved in reconstructive breast surgery.
“Many women are naturally apprehensive when exploring the possibility of reconstructive or cosmetic breast surgery because of the potential complications during and after the procedure,” says plastic surgeon Anne Dancey MBChB(hons), MRCS(Ed), MMedSci(hons), FRCS(Plast).
“Infections, bleeding under the skin and the build-up of scar tissue around the breast are just some of the risks. However, providing this level of financial protection is a great way of building confidence in patients and obviously demonstrates a genuine concern for the wellbeing of the individuals involved.”
“Of course, all surgeons hope that revision surgery is never required after a reconstructive procedure, but it’s good to know that all parties are financially covered if unplanned work is necessary” She concluded.
