Rhinoplasty surgery information

Deciding to have rhinoplasty surgery is a big decision and we have highly qualified Consultant Plastic Surgeons to help you make the right choice for you. The results from nose reshaping and nose reduction surgery can be life changing for confidence. The procedure involves refining the overall profile, the tip or bridge of the nose.

What is achieved by surgery?

Will I have scars following surgery?

Many incisions are made inside the nostrils during rhinoplasty, also known as nose job surgery, therefore the scars are hidden. For an open rhinoplasty procedure, the cosmetic surgeon may make an incision in the skin between the nostrils. It may also be necessary to make small incisions at either side of the nostrils, which should leave very fine scars.

How will I feel following the procedure?

Following your operation, you will experience bruising and swelling, particularly around the eyes, which should decrease over 2-4 weeks. The nose will initially feel numb and stiff, which should gradually ease over a couple of months following the rhinoplasty operation. You may have dressings in each nostril and a protective splint fitted for approximately 1 week following surgery. Most closed rhinoplasty procedures take approximately 2 weeks to settle down, however if your nose is broken there will be increased bruising around the eyes and for longer. For example, open rhinoplasty surgery typically takes 4-6 weeks to heal.

When can I drive following surgery?

Your cosmetic surgeon will normally recommend resuming driving approximately 10 days after surgery has been performed, to assist with recovery.

How long after surgery should I exercise after the operation?

You are advised to not to commence strenuous exercise until approximately 6 weeks following your rhinoplasty procedure.

How much does the rhinoplasty cost?

The cost of a typical rhinoplasty procedure is £4250.00.

Is the appointment with a surgeon?

ALL appointments are with a plastic surgeon.

How should you select a surgeon?

Only ever select a surgeon who is properly trained and on the Specialist Register held by the General Medical Council. During your consultation, the cosmetic surgeon will discuss the risks and benefits of nose job surgery and what is possible for you, or may give the best results. Members of UK organisations such as BAAPS and BAPRAS are recommended.
